Interview questions. Tell me about yourself. Good morning sir/madam; Firstly I would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity and it's my pleasure to introduce myself. I am XYZ from……. I'm belongs to a family where discipline does matters.  I am quick in learning from mistakes. About family back groud :-My dad is a retired worker from XYZ and my mom is house wife.  I have 2 siblings, Elder brother working as a senior ….in ABC and Elder sister working in  c..a/c in ABC. About my Qualifications,I had passed 12th with non medical. now I am in graduation from D.U in final year . I have also completed diploma in Travel Management from IITC,C.P with 79% 1st class. Experience : Achievement :-I was not achieve big,but i was the one of the good in the environment i met.I got prizes for my academic excellence. My hobbies are surfing the internet, playing chess, listening music in my leisure time.. My strength are very hard worker, positive attitude, can adopt to any environment easily, quick learner. Weakness :My weakness is I don't feel comfortable until I finish my work.OR My weakness is straight forward. OR My weak point is i easily believe others. My short term goal is to get placed in a reputed company like yours which will give me an opportunity to enhance my skills and knowledge. My long term goal is to bring my company at peak position where I'm one of the responsible for it. Thats all about me thanks thank you sir. Why should I hire you? You can hire me because i have relevant experience in this field, i can tackle the work pressure and i am a smart learner. What is the difference between confidence and over confidence? Confidence is to be your trueself while over confidence is trying to be what you are not. Confidence: is what, the feel for doing anything within your capacity, knowledge, activity, and the determination power. Over Confidence is wiliness for doing anything even though with a lack of knowledge, capacity. Confidence is one when we say ''I can do this work'' and over confidence is when we say ''No one can do this work, except me''.... What is the difference between hard work and smart work? I think these two terms are not opposite. Smart worker is always a hard worker. With out hard work no one can gain experience, and smart work does not come with out experience. These terms are not opposite. They are related. OR Using our body power is "Hard work" and using our Brain power for the same work is "Smart work". Both the things are incomplete without each other. Not only the hard work is sufficient but also some smart work is also required for the goal achivement. How do you feel about working nights and weekends? I would like to finish my work within time. if the weekends and night shift work is not a regular,i will come and do my duty in that time also... I will complete my work within time . if there is necessity to work at nights and weekends for the beneficial of company i will definetly work . I have my commitment for your organization, I will try my level best for completing the work on time but if your organization needs me to work on weekends and at nights I will surely be there for your firm. Can you work under pressure? Yes, I can work well under pressure actually working under pressure shows your real qualties and talent because everyone can swim with the flow of water but the truly talented swimer can swim against the flow of water. Yes I can work under pressure bcoz pressure is a part of our life.if there is no pressure then person becomes lazy & makes a lot of mistakes.So having pressure in work i think it motivates me to do the work sincerely. Are you willing to relocate or travel? e sir definitely, Because I want to build my career so I will give importance to my work rather than location n full-fill my company requirements. To have a very long and successful carrier with the same organization it's necessary / imperative to understand the work culture and functions of the organization in different locations. OR Sir, I am ready to even work on moon. What motivates you to do good job? My honesty and self respect motivates me to do good job. Since m simple person with rich thoughts. The dreams which are in the eyes of my parents to see me at the top position, only reason for motivates me to do a good job. What makes you angry? Generally Sir, I don't loose my temper very often and I have much patience. But honestly speaking when a very near and dear one cheats me or does not believe me I feel very very bad. Or I get angry when someone interfere in my work unnecessarily. Give me an example of your creativity. I collect many snapes of my bestfriend some too old, some latest, some from her facebook account, some from her orkut account. Then I made a birthday video for her. With subtitles of my emotions and wishes for her. & then I uploaded that video on facebook on the day of her birthday. And I was very happy when she said it was the most precious gift of her birthday. How long would you expect to work for us if hired? I ll work for you as long as I can add something to growth of the company as well as on my personal growth. As long as I get satisfied with the company and the company get satisfied with my work, and its output from me satisfaction. I think every person seeks for the better opportunity, and I think your company is the best opportunity for my career, so there's no question of quitting. Are not you overqualified for this position? There is always to learn in anything & in anyone. So there is no word called overqualified as per my concern. I don't think so sir, none in this world knows every thing and perfect. So I think there are lot of things to learn each and every day. Describe your ideal company, location and job. Ideal company: a company which provides me good environment to enhance my knowledge would be definitely a great company for me. Ideal location: a location where I can enjoy my days is ideal location for me. Ideal job : simply where I can enjoy my work and could get opportunity to enhance my knowledge. OR The company which offers me an opportunistic environment and growth is ideal for me. About location, i am not location specific. I just want to be a part of such a company wherever it is. And ideal job for me is the one which develops my skills and makes me feel energetic by doing it. What are your career options right now? Sir,i want to placed in reputed company like your's which gives me more knowledge and enhance my skills and makes me grow along with the organisation.OR Sir I want to be a part of a reputed organization so that I can improve my skills and help in growing of organization with my best effort and knowledge. Explain how would be an asset to this organization? Well sir hardworking, dedication, punctuality are the things which makes an employee to be an asset to an organisation. And I will assure you that you will never have a complaints regarding my puncuality hardwork an dedication. I can be an asset to your firm. I feel I should given a chance. Thank you. What are your outside interests? My outside interest is playing chess. It teaches me that how to handle the critical situation. It improves our confidence level not only the game to get the success but also to our life. My outside interest are solving Sudoku puzzles,chating with friends,like to draw cartoon pictures and listening to music. Would you lie for the company? Sir, this is totally situation depended; i prefer to go what my seniors advising me. OR Sir, in my view no business can survive without a lie.  For example- If I want to sell a product for Rs 100 which costs me Rs 50, and if I tell the truth to my customer about it's cost price, then he will never buy my product. As the great philosopher said,"The lie for the sake of someone,do not seems to be a lie". So, I may also tell lie for my company when needed.. Who has inspired you in your life and why? I get inspired my parents. From my mom I learned love, honesty, kindness and my father inspired me dedication towards our work, adaptiveness to the any kind of environment and hardwork. OR My parents who taught me how to overcome from every critical situation with smiling face by easily handling the situations. What was the toughest decision you ever had to make? Toughest decision I had to make was between continuing my studies or doing job. Finally I choosed to do both ,job want to make use of my skill, talent add qualification to become more experienced and knowledgeable & Study……. if i wanna to take some disicion i ask to my heart and my mind... surely it gives different answers... in that situation i feeling very tougher which i could prefer most.. Have you considered starting your own business? I didn't think about starting a business. First reason is my financial status. Apart from it I would like to invest my skills on your company so that I can earn through it, I believe your company will provide me better opportunity rather than what I can found in business. Not exactly. because experience is required for starting a new business. once i get the experience i ll think abt my own business... How do you define success and how do you measure up to your own definition? When our signature becomes autograph that is success. When you have a goal and when you achieve it in the time that you allotted for it, then it means you've succeeded. Success is the ultimate satisfaction we get in achieving what we wanted. SUCCESS is the JOURNEY not a PLACE where you can stay. You have to move further for the GROWTH. In my OWN DEFINITION When I see the TEARS OF HAPPINESS IN my PARENTS eyes then I can say I'm a SUCCESSFUL person. If you won $10 million lottery, would you still work? Yes surely I'll be work here because money can make a settled life but it doest not make a experienced, and knowledge, skills. So money is important to live but work is very important to expose my talent. NO i will not quit the job. Because the only reason is that i should earn it through my efforts and excellence. It kills one's creativeness as it makes us lazy. Also I have some dreams like to help the uneducated students so if I have that money I would spend that for educating many uneducated children. Money is not a matter for me.it comes and goes out but the achievements that i did never goes off. Tell me something about our company. Sir, It is one of the reputed and fast growing company. It has a so many branches in India as well as throughout the world. Basicaly this will give great opportunities to bulid my carrier in very right manner in my area of interest. How much salary do you expect? Sir,Salary is important..but work is most important...as far as figures are concerned, i didn't think about that because job satisfaction and career growth is most important to me..and that can provide by your company...however i feel you would select appropriate compensation for me.. OR Every company decides a standard and specific salary according to the job. So as per company's standard. Where do you see yourself five years from now? After 5 years, I would like to myself as more knowledgeable and skilled professional than I am today. My organization getting benefits from me. My enthusiasm and zeal increases for my organization development and I hope you will feel proud that I was selected you. OR After 5 year I would like to see myself in a position where everyone in the company would recognized me for my achievements in work and where my company would not loose me in any case/circumstances. On a scale of one to ten, rate me as an interviewer. Sir, I don't think I am in a position to rate you. You are an experieced and well qualified person but still given an opportunity, I would rate you as 9 and half on ten. You made me feel comfortable and had an friendly attitude. I had an amazing experience in this interwiew. I am deducting half mark because I believe that no one is perfect and we all have space for improvement. OR Sir, as I said earlier start of this interview that I am honest person so I will rate you 9/10. One marks I will cut for tax because nothing is free in this planet basically in India Do you have any questions for me? First of all thank you for giving me this opportunity. I would like to know in which area i need to improve myself which would help me during training period if I get selected here. or Sir, Firtly I thank u for giving this opportunity to present myself. and please let me know, in which areas i need to improve after joining in this company. :) HR Interview Questions For Experienced Why did you resign from your previous job? I want to thanks my previous company because they gave me first chance to prove myself and i did also, actually i started my job at a low salary package but after giving my hundred % i was still at the same position after one year, growth was negligible so i want a company where i can stay for a long time so that i can grow my technical or career skill with that company. That is why i want to resign that company. OR Sir, i shall first thank to my previous job, because i got experiance from their. as you know that every one want growth in their life. I also need too. I want to give more explosure but their was not such kind of any oppournity. Therefore i resign from my previous job. OR Sir, I have learned a lot in my last company but I think changes are essential to improvement our skills, knowledge and financial growth and that is the reason why I want to switch to enhance these attributes. OR I am looking forward to work in a company where there are more opportunities. My previous organization was very small and didn’t have opportunities for growth. I’m looking for a bigger challenge and to grow my career. After learning the work environment here, I felt this is exactly the type of place I want to work. Why have you been out of work so long? Since I Left m previous job, I have been looking for good opportunity that can provide me with better learning and more responsibility, and not to mention provide me a better financial position so that I can attain overall growth and the organisation also get benefited by my work and effort. OR To bring more exposure and develop myself in all aspects like communication, empathy, etc., Why have you had so many jobs? Though I have changed lot of jobs but due to this I have learn different set of skills. And these skills help me a lot in dealing with different kinds of people. It may show negativity on my part but my skills and learning ability have increased. OR I always want to learn more. Tell me about a situation when your work was criticized. Yes I was criticized by my seniors but critisised is only key to success and after that I willl never give a chance to critised me in future. OR I don't remember such incident of criticism but my manager has given me feedback about areas which can be improved. The feedback was taken by me quite positively and I started working on it proactively. I think even if my work had been criticised, I would have taken it in constructive manner and would have given it a thought... OR Success is impossible without criticism. But as a human, I cannot digest those criticism. Definitely I will reply to those criticism by my achievements. Could you have done better in your last job? I performed well in all my previous assignments to the best of my efforts, same has been well appreciated by my peers and managers. Ofcourse there is always a room for improvement, which I am working on it, to be even more better. OR Yes, I have done everything which had resposible worked on me. Tell me about the most boring job you have ever had. According to my point of view no job is boring. It is totally depend on the individual that how they react towards their job responsibility. or None job in this world is boring. It depends on the interest that we have towards the field. May I contact your present employer for a reference? Ya definitely. I am sure you will get a good hear about my work. OR Ya you can, I'm sure you will get to know more about me, because I have always given my best. Or My present employer is not aware of my job search and, for obvious reasons; I'd prefer to keep it that way. I'd be most appreciative if we kept our discussion confidential right now. Of course, when we both agree the time is right, then by all means you should contact them. I'm very proud of my record there. How many hours a week do you normally work? Sir its not about working hours. Its about how do I complete my work, if I am passionate to do the work, I won't see how many hours I should work. I will try to complete it as soon as possible with my creative thinking and hard work.OR As per our company schedules it was between 42 to 45 hours a week. But I have never hesitated to extend my shift when there is a requirement. I always loved my work and the work enviornment. OR Work is the first preference so I'm ready to work on the demand of work. What was the toughest challenge you have ever faced? Well I have face many challenge which were tough, but none seemed to be very challenging because I have keep my self boosted with energy and confident to face more challenges. OR I my life whether it is personal or professional life I have faced so many toughest situation but I have crack them with my self confidence and skills. Have you been absent from work more than a few days in any previous position? Yes, with proper reason. What changes would you make if you came on board? First of all i would like to say that i would not change anything but i would add something addtional to the ongoing work/plan/environment with my experience and skills. OR Changes are made by the people who are in charge. So, if I am given the opportunity to make changes; then, first of all I will change the work environment to a happy work environment where every one accomplishes the given tasks within the given time keep frustration aside. What would you say to your boss if he is crazy about an idea, but you think it stinks? If boss is open for ideas then i'l discuss my points with him so that he can re-think on certain points of his vision, if he's nt open to new ideas from subordinates, then i'll follow "boss is always right" rule. OR Sir,all the ideas which you have given before are really excellent and the added value to our company but what I feel about this is to discuss this idea twice and then we can implement this idea sir please. How could you have improved your career progress? We can improve our career if we have a dedication to learn new things and to face the new challenges. Tell me honestly about the strong points and weak points of your boss (company, management team, etc.) Sir once I get this job I will be one of the empoyee to this organization. So its my responsibility to save the information regarding our company, boss, employees etc. If I tell this information I am not an honesty person. So how can I answer this question. Sorry sir.  OR Every human being has both strong point and weak point because no one is always perfect. The most strong point of my boss is his panctuality and keeping commitment, also he is innovative, energetic. About the weak points I think I m not in that position to judge him. For me he is good and always I try to learnt the good qualities of him. Looking back on your last position, have you done your best work? Everyone knows that nobody is perfect as their is always a scope for improvement. Though I don't get any reward for my work done in my previous job but I am sure I was given my 100 % and my satisfaction is more valuable to me. OR Why should I hire you from the outside when I could promote someone from within? No One can improvemtnt herself without working any where, new person always bring new thinks in organization, so, I think I am the right person for this opportunity. OR First of all i would like to say that sir if you are conducting interviews for this paricular position it means you require an individual from outside your organisation,otherwise i wont be sitting in front of you for the interview and secondly a new person always bring something new innovative ideas through his experiences which is definitely helpful for an organisation growth perspective. How do you feel about reporting to a younger person? It really doesn't matter. As long as the work enviornment is good it makes no difference whom we report to. OR It is all about the ability and caliber. In my opinion, age doesn't make any difference to it. If a person has talent to lead, I won't mind reporting to him whether he is younger or older to me. OR I feel same whether the boss is younger/older or Male/female, I give importance to the designation and respects company. Looking back, what would you do differently in your life? Well sir, We improve present only through the mistakes learned from the past and the future will automatically fly high as we improving present. OR Looking back is important as it shows us where we were right and where we went wrong. Everyone makes errors, so did I. But one thing I maintain is that mistakes once done can't be corrected, so, it's better to work on it in a way that the mistake itself leads to the correct thing. I believe in changing the future which is in my hand, not the trodden past, which I can't change! Why are not you earning more money at this stage of your career? Well, we all know money is importanct but but one will not get golden opportunities of building career again and again and I believe that if career is on right track and on progress. Money can come automatically. If we just focus on our work we will get fruitful results. Or Money is imported but knowledge is most important at the initial stage of career What will you do if you are asked to give a bribe? If I am asked to do so then I will feel very uncomfortable to do so just in case the company has strong core competency, best practices and a strong value system. So I strongly feel the company can do business purely on these merits and not through bribery or commissions. - If the interviewer presses you hard to say either yes or no then you can say: "However even if a condition comes to pay a bribe to get a good contract then I shall refer the case to my seniors for their valid suggestions upon which I can act." Suppose I tell you I don’t like your face? Then why should I select you? Even if you don’t like my face, you definitely would agree that I have other qualities that appealed you, for which you are now interviewing me. “A man’s face is not including of his abilities”. There’s a saying “A book is not judged by its cover but it is judged by its  Q: IF AFTER SOMETIME YOU START DISLIKING THE JOB, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Ans.Well, if such situation then my first priority would be to look within myself and try to find out any shortcomings or lack of skills and techniques. If such things happen then I would try to improve and rectify myself. Still if I don’t get an answer then I will speak to my seniors and colleagues to learn my mistakes so that I become more user friendly to my organization.  If your boss is taking all the credits for your work, what will you do? Even if my boss takes credit for my work, I would not mind because if I am a good worker my contribution will be definitely noticed by the organization. Secondly if I remain in the good books of my boss, I can en-cash this towards my career promotions and growth. HR Interview - How do you think you conducted or performed during this interview? I think I have conducted myself in the best possible manner by satisfying your queries through my specific answers which I feel were logical, systematic and to the point. Through my answer my true worth as a dynamic and competent professional has come out fair and square and I am happy with my performance which would ensure myselection in this esteemed organization. "There’s no work or job which doesn’t need team work at some point of time."  I would like to work in an environment where there is a blend of both. Its great working in teams while sharing and learning ideas with each other, but it’s also great to sit at my own desk and work hard productively. Therefore I would like to work independently towards a team goal. Or I believe both are two sides of the same coin. They can never be isolated. A man has to work individually and also as a team player. The value of teamwork is the emergence of new ideas and creative solutions as well as sharing of the work load. So I prefer to work both as an individual and as a team member. Why do you want to work for us?  I well understand that this is a company on the way up. And recently I studied and saw on your website about the launch of several new products which is imminent. WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR IN THIS JOB?/ WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FROM   Great learning opportunities, challenging roles, rational career progression and good job satisfaction. I would also like to work for anorganization that gives me an opportunity to serve the organization, the society and above all my country. Or I would like a job which gives me a chance to apply all that I have learned in college and enable me to grow as a professional. I would likea role which enables me to make a difference and improve my skills. What made you choose your major/specialization ? I majored in English because it was a field I knew would make memore skilled in reading, writing and communicating. I believe English is a tool that is used everywhere, so I thought it was the best major for me. Or Are you Willing to take risks?  I see myself as a risk taker. But before taking any decision, I always evaluate all other options and after careful considerations I would definitely take a risk if the rewards were high enough. Are you willing to relocate or travel? “I am completely mobile. Well I can go to any part of the country or even abroad if situation permits.or I have no problems with traveling, actually I love traveling. During your performance reviews, what criticism do you hear the most?  I believe criticism should be dealt with positive attitude because it gives us information on how to improve. The criticism I heard during my tenure was to voice my opinions, ideas and suggestions in group meetings. My manager always liked my suggestions whenever I personally met him, but in group meetings I usually let him speak. Now, I feel more confident that I can suggest my ideas and opinions in groups. or My colleagues criticized me for being an introvert. I usually go to office and concentrate on my work. But I took the criticism positively and now I am trying to interact with people around me and simultaneously concentrating on my work. I realized that I have to be social.  Is there anything else that we should know about you that would impact our decision? I am a continuous learner and I try to keep myself abreast of all developments in the field of IT (or any other). Since I do not quit in the face of toughest challenges, I am certain that I would be able to achieve the targets that I set for myself and beyond. Or  Well for all my mentioned attributes, strengths and qualification I am confident that I can do very well over here. I don’t know if I expressed it that well, but I’m very excited about this position.
